Customer Feedback from Blake Carney
Q: What was the need that launched your search for a solution like FileWay?
A: "The catalyst for finding a secure, browser based file access service for staff and students was the migration of the University staff and student computing environment from Novell to Microsoft for desktop management, authentication and file & print services.
The fundamental design principle used during this migration was ‘like for like’, that is, all existing services supported by Novell needed to be available once migrated to Microsoft. One of these deployed services was HTTPS file access hosted by Novell NetStorage and this service needed to be migrated to the Microsoft based post-migration environment."
Q: What other products/solutions did you explore?
A: "The products reviewed to provide HTTPS file access was Microsoft Sharepoint. Other options did not fill our basic requirements."
Q: What was the deciding factor(s) that made you select FileWay?
A: "The deciding factors for choosing FileWay were:
- Comparative functionality with NetStorage
- Relative cost of FileWay compared to alternatives
- No desktop agent required
- Relatively wide support for non-IE web browsers
- The reduced learning curve for our users because of the similarity with NetStorage functionality
- No specialist skills required to administer the deployment of FileWay, hosted on WindowsAS 2008.
- Integration with AD."
Q: What was your experience with the install?
A: " The install was straight forward with some assistance from EveryWhere Networks."
Q: How has FileWay performed to date?
A: "FileWay has proven to be a robust and reliable service for providing ubiquitous web-based file access for our students and staff."
Q: What are your plans for expansion with FileWay?
A: "We have recently extended our initial licensing of FileWay to an open license to support our current service model."
Q: How satisfied are you with the support you have received from Everywhere Networks?
A: "EveryWhere Networks has fully supported our service model and AD forest security model. They have also been very responsive in dealing with some additional technical issues we have needed."
Q: How would you sum up your experience with Everywhere Networks and our products?
A: "It has been a pleasure to work with EveryWhere Networks. They have been responsive to our needs and actively participated as members of the project team to make the successful deployment of their FileWay product contribute to the success of the migration of the University to Microsoft AD."
